Crossword Sage is a free and open source intuitive software designed to help you build professional looking crosswords. Design your own grid and then fill in the words manually.

You can also make use of Crossword Sage’s lightning fast word suggestion capabilities to help you solve crosswords!

Crossword Sage is entirely cross platform and will run on any operating system which has the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.4.2 or later installed. If you don’t have the JRE, it is quick and easy to get it here…

[ Using Instructions ]

The panel on the right shows suggested words which will fit into the selected space. The bottom panel shows the current clue for the selected word and the pop up box is asking the crossword builder to define the clue for the selected word.

Having difficulty figuring out words to fit into some little tricky spot? Crossword Sage has a lightning fast word suggestion feature at your disposal.

Load up a crossword and solve it onscreen. Check your answers so far by clicking on ‘Check Solution’. You can see the clues in the right hand panel and in the main part of the puzzle you can see a few completed words. The word with the blue Xs through means it has been marked as incorrect.
