DropIt : Operate Your Files and Folders With A Drag and Drop

DropIt is a tiny, flexible, hard-working tool to automate sorting and filing data-files and folders. When you need to organize files, it can eliminate much of the drudgery of searching and manually opening folders and moving files around.

DropIt is a simple floating target image on your desktop, that you can drop files onto to quickly process them with the action of your choice. It allows to set a destination folder or program for each pattern rule defined and group patterns in different profiles.

[ Detailed Description ]

You can drop both files and folders on its popup image (or directly on its executable). Folders will be scanned and all contained files will be sorted in destination directories or sent to defined programs.

You can configure DropIt to do 8 different actions to your files and folders (Move, Copy, Compress, Extract, Rename, Open With, Delete and Exclude), filtering files by name, extension, location, size and/or date. You can even save sets of patterns in profiles and associate a profile to each desired folder, to scan monitored folders at a defined time interval.

When you drop a file that doesn’t match with existent patterns, a form allow you to create a new pattern rule and associate a destination for all files that match with it.

You can create an unlimited number of patterns and add several rules in each pattern, to associate a unique destination for a wider range of files. From “Patterns” button you can organize your associations, whereas from “Profiles” button you can organize groups of associations in profiles.

Drop a group of assorted files and/or folders on the floating DropIt image and it sorts them to defined destination folders, eventually compresses or extracts them, opens them with associated programs or does other defined actions. You should go do something enjoyable with the time you saved.
