Snes9x is a great Super Nintendo emulator for which ports are available for many platforms, unlike ZSNES.
Though Snes9x also has many of the features of ZSNES, it lacks a bit in compatibility. This doesn’t mean it’s bad, but there can only be one the best: ZSNES.
If however you have a Macintosh or other system which can’t run DOS executables you are stuck with Snes9x however
[ Detailed Introduction ]
Snes9x is a portable, freeware Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) emulator and is the only SNES emulator available for MacOS X. It basically allows you to play most games designed for the SNES and Super Famicom Nintendo game systems on your PC or Workstation; they include some real gems that were only ever released in Japan. Snes9X is coded in C++, with three assembler CPU emulation cores on the i386 Linux, MS-DOS and Windows ports.
The Super Nintendo Entertainment System is one of the most powerful 16-bit consoles. The SNES used an extremely powerful graphics coprocessor able of generating real-time effects like scaling and transparency.
This release of SNES9X offers amazing emulation quality and performance, when compared to any other SNES emulator available today.
This version of SNES9X supports mouse input, TV Mode and GZ-compressed ROMs.
